Dear friends,
This fall, the color of the leaves isn’t the only thing that’s changing. Huge changes are in store for Hillhouse Opera Company.
A Change in Leadership
General Manager Victoria Gardner recently became engaged and is leaving her position to prepare for married life. Sarah Kennedy, who has been involved with HOC on many levels for two years, has been named Interim General Manager, while Gardner will continue to have input as founder and president of HOC.
“I look forward to the discovery of this experience of delight and inspiration in the community,” said Kennedy, who is the director of Sarah Kennedy Kennedy Ballet for young People, in New Haven, a ballet program for children ages three and older.
A New Website
We’re pleased to announce that we launched our new website this month. Designed by our Marketing, Public Relations Consultant, Harmony Wheeler, the new website offers a more colorful, organized experience for patrons, as well as a new logo that we hope will help you identify more with us as a brand. To visit the new site, go to www.hillhouseoperacompany.org.
Changing Newsletter Platforms
HOC will begin using Blogger to send out e-newsletters immediately. The regular form of newsletter will continue to be sent through the end of December. At the beginning of January, all those who have not signed up to subscribe to the blog (www.hocnews.blogspot.com) will be added by HOC and will receive a confirmation email from FeedBurner with a link they will need to click to continue receiving the e-newsletter. This is your chance to receive exclusive deals, news and behind the scenes stories as HOC and its newsletter continue to expand.
We would prefer not to have to individually put in hundreds of email addresses, and would appreciate your help in this transition. Thank you.
In the mean time, Please visit this link (https://docs.google.com/a/biola.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dHlNcUI2b2lnOVg2Mm9FSE5jVUxiRmc6MQ#gid=0) to take a survey and tell us what you think of our e-newsletter and how we can improve it.
One Performance Only
Reserve your tickets now for HOC’s one-night-only performance of Puccini’s classic opera La Boheme. On November 12 at 7:30 p.m., a very talented cast of singers will be at the High Lane Club in North Haven, CT to share a story of romance and passion with you. It will be a performance to remember. You won’t want to miss it.
“I am inspired to be collaborating on La Boheme with music director Perry Price and this very gifted cast of vocalists and musicians,” Kennedy said. “Each rehearsal is filled with such team work and enthusiasm. The beauty and quality of the artists' performances truly bring joy to all who experience them.”
With an opening scene on Christmas Eve in Paris, La Boheme is a wonderful, romantic opera that opera-goers have related to for ages as its characters experience love and beauty in the midst of harsh circumstances and beautiful, yet damaging snowy weather. Bring your family or a special loved one to experience this passionate and engaging opera that never loses its appeal. Bring the spirit into your own holiday, winter season!
The classic holiday production will feature conductor and music director Perry Price, as well as sopranos Christina Holms and Christina DiMuro, tenor Daniel Juarez, baritones Michael Trnik and Jerry Holmes, and bass baritone Joshua Laura.
Tickets are $17 online and $20 at the door. Visit www.hillhouseoperacompany.org for more information and to buy tickets.
